United Steelworkers of America, Local 1211 records, 1934-1980.

This collection consists primarily of grievance files on benefits, disciplinary action, hours, job descriptions, wage rates, safety and health, and working conditions. The office files concern local union elections, resolutions, safety and health and working conditions, national and district conventions, and job classification. The collection is also accompanied by sizeable collections of minute books (1936-1980) and a series of photographs relating to SWOC organizing in 1937 and the historical J & L Strike in Aliquippa. There are photographs from local organizing efforts in the 1960s.

Local 1211, Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, joined the Steel Workers Organizing Committee in January 1937. In 1942 it became a founding local in District 20 of the United Steelworkers of America (USWA).
